For filter mesh, the main material is Polyester and Nylon. You may wonder: how to distinguish the different material? Polyester and Nylon looks so similar. Here we have two simple ways for you to work it out.

(1) Combustion method

Operation: Cut a 8cm × 2cm filter mesh trim, tie it to the chopsticks with iron wire, ignite the mesh strip with a match, and the wire mesh is ignited.

Observation: If slowly burning while melting, the ash looks like a yellow-brown glass sphere, then it` s Nylon mesh. While if there is black smoke comes out while burning, and the ash is a hard black residue, then it`s Polyester mesh. Also, the odor is different when burning,Nylon mesh has smell of wool, when smells aroma, it is polyester mesh.

(2) Acid solution method

Operation: Take a small amount of sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, prepare a 70% solution of sulfuric acid, prepare a 20% solution of hydrochloric acid, and put the filter mesh trim into the above solution.

Observation: The nylon mesh is soluble in the solution, but the polyester mesh is insoluble.
