How to distinguish the material stainless steel 304 and 201 of wire mesh
Stainless steel wire mesh has a wide range of applications in the filtration industry and the printing industry. Many customers can't distinguish whether the stainless steel material is 304 or 201, and the 201 stainless steel wire mesh is easy to rust, while the 304 is not. It is important to learn how to identify the material of stainless steel to invoid purchasing the wrong product.
In addition to using XRF to identify the content of stainless steel components to identify materials, stainless steel 304 and 201 can be identified as follows:
Because of the difference in nickel content, 201 stainless steel is not as good as 304 in corrosion resistance and acid & alkali resistance. And because the carbon content of 201 is higher than 304, so 201 is harder than 304, with a bit of steel, it is easier to crack, and the toughness of 304 is better. If you use a hard knife to scratch the surface of 201 stainless steel, there will be obvious scratches, and the scratch of 304 will not be particularly obvious.
Since 201 contains manganese, it will rust if it is wet in the long-term and salty air, but 304 will not rust.
There are other ways to identify the stainless steel mesh 304 and 201 materials, hope the methods shared by this article are helpful.
