What wire mesh should be used for KOH (potassium Hydroxide) filtration?

Potassium hydroxide is also known as Caustic potash, Lye, Potash lye, Potassia, Potassium hydrate, KOH.
KOH(Potassium Hydroxide) has quite similar characteristics as alkali: soluble in water, strong corrosive, etc.

According to MAISHI’s experience, we recommend following material wire mesh for KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) filtration and sieving.

1. Silver wire mesh
Silver wire mesh can be used in temperature up to 700℃ if there is no water or oxygen. In normal environment, silver wire mesh can be used in temperature under 400℃.

2. Pure nickel wire mesh
Similar to silver wire mesh, Pure nickel wire mesh can be used in temperature up to 600℃ if there is no water and oxygen and 400℃ is also the recommended temperature for normal environment. But the use life of silver wire mesh is much longer than pure nickel wire mesh(about 5 times)

3. Gold wire mesh
Gold wire mesh is not as good as silver wire mesh if there is no water and oxygen, but gold wire mesh has good ability in 6% water environment(using life is more than 100 times than silver wire mesh).

4. Other nickel-base alloy wire mesh
Some kinds of nickel-base alloy wire mesh, such as SS304, SS316, Monel 400, Inconel 600 and all other high nickel alloy, also have resistance to corrosion, but their using life is short then above items. MAISHI can supply all type of Nickel alloy wire mesh.

For normal production environment, the using lives of the above materials rank as follows
Gold wire mesh > silver wire mesh > pure nickel wire mesh > other nickel-base alloy wire mesh .
There price is also in the same ranking: Gold wire mesh is the most expensive.
